FUTURE FOR TRANSPORT CHOICE IN HEREFORD

ENVIRONMENTAL INFORMATION REGULATIONS REQUEST – EIR 420 (answered 11 February 2011)

Questions asked by RS

Q.        What is the Council’s vision for the percentage of trips that will be made by each of the main modes (on foot, bicycle, bus, car) during the AM and PM peaks in Hereford in 2026?

A.        The council does not have a vision for the percentage of trips that will be made by each of the main modes (on foot, bicycle, bus, car) during the AM and PM peaks in Hereford in 2026.

The Local Transport Plan vision is a ‘A sustainable and integrated transport system which recognises the distinctive characteristics of Herefordshire’s rural and urban areas and provides for the transport needs of residents, visitors and the business community’

Q.   What interim targets has the Council set for each mode?

A At the current time no interim targets have been set for each mode.

Q.  What does the evidence base for the Hereford Preferred Options indicate will be the relative share for each mode at these times (please specify which scenario is assumed?)

A.  Herefordshire Council does not hold this information.  All modelling and surveys work is undertaken by external transport consultants.

However, within the Hereford Relief Road Study of Options Paper, the three sustainable transport options were tested against the preferred development option.  This report provides details on modal share in respect of car and other modes.
